Acclaimed British comedian and actor, John Cleese, will make his highly-anticipated debut on Bangkok’s stage this July, much to the excitement of his immense number of fans here.
The 83-year-old star, one of the six members of the hugely-popular surreal comedy troupe Monty Python, and the co-creator of iconic BBC sitcom Fawlty Towers, will fearlessly cover a plethora of topics during his stand-up performance, set to take place on Friday, July 7th.
It’s going to be a busy few months for the native of Weston-super-Mare, with shows taking place in Australia as well as Asia. ‘John Cleese & Eric Idle: Together Again At Last..For The Very First Time’ saw John tour Oz with his Monty Python colleague Eric Idle, back in 2016.
Cleese will kick-off the Asian shows of his latest tour on July 4th in Taipei, before bringing his distinctive brand of humour to KBank Siam Pic-Ganesha Theatre, at Siam Square One. He’ll then appear in Hong Kong on July 10th before performing in Singapore on July 13th.
His Bangkok show will be made up of a diverse audience of expats and English-speaking Thais, who energetically seek a much-needed dose of laughter. With his unique blend of wit and humour, John Cleese fans are sure to have an epic time watching their idol, live!
John Cleese has acted in many great films during his lengthy career. His most well-known roles include Nearly Headless Nick in the first two Harry Potter movies, Q in James Bond: Die Another Day, and King Harold in the animated Dreamworks hits Shrek 2 and Shrek 3.
1988’s A Fish Called Wanda was a critical and commercial success – a film Cleese starred in, and co-wrote. Jamie Lee Curtis and Kevin Kline, who won an Academy Award for , also featured in the excellent comedy heist box-office smash.
Monty Python led to John Cleese finding fame. The British comedy troupe, celebrated for their innovative and absurdist humour, are best known for their TV show ‘Monty Python’s Flying Circus’, and movies including ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail’ and ‘Life of Brian.’
Fawlty Towers was also comedy gold. The BBC series, set within a fictional seaside hotel, first aired in 1975 and soon became popular around the world, noted for the chaotic, and often farcical antics of its neurotic proprietor, Basil Fawlty, memorably played by Cleese.
