The Essential Guide to Planning a Bachelor Party in Bangkok

Have a blast with the boys in the world's most visited city

The Thai capital Bangkok has built up a reputation as one of the world’s great destinations to hold a bachelor party. The wide variety of crazy nightlife antics and activities on offer make it a perfect choice of city to say goodbye to the single life. Whether you prefer celebrations to be relatively civilised or somewhat more adventurous, Bangkok is sure to thrill all in attendance.

There are a plethora of options available to suit all tastes and budgets. Your group may want to fire machine guns at a shooting range. Attend a Muay Thai match at a boxing stadium. Or pop some bottles at one of the many downtown nightclubs.

How about retracing the accidentally debauched steps of the stars of the Hangover II, with a visit to Lebua Hotel’s famous Sky Bar? By the end of your trip, there could well be tales to tell from the groom’s Woolfpack of how “Bangkok has him now”.

We have outlined all of the most popular venues and activities out there below.

Enjoy One of Bangkok’s Daytime Pool Parties

Bangkok’s famous pool parties are limited to weekends but if your celebration falls on a Saturday then there’s a very high chance that a rooftop pool party will be taking place at a hotel in the city.

The venue might change but the concept is the same: slip on your best designer beachwear and get grooving to cool house and EDM tracks. It’s recommended to buy drinks by the bottle and ask for a prominent table as close to the pool or DJ booth as possible. No stag wants to be sat at the back away from all the action.

The SO Pool Party, set on the 10th floor of SO Sofitel Bangkok is generally considered as the best pool party in Bangkok. Running for 8 hours on the last Saturday of each month, this playground for Bangkok’s most sexy (or, at least, those that think they are) attracts a mostly young expat crowd, as well as a few groups of Thais and knowledgeable tourists that want to join in on the fun.

Lebua Hotel As Seen in the Movie ‘Hangover ll’

Hangover II fans can pay a visit to the famous Lebua Hotel — you may remember the scene filmed on the golden-domed rooftop of this luxury hotel. You can even stay in the Hangover Suite, where some of the cast stayed during filming. The property is home to the hugely-popular Sky Bar, where the groom’s gang are sure to be astounded by the stunning panoramic views of the skyline.

The Hangovertini cocktail is a must-try, perfect for toasting to the antics of Phil, Stu, Alan and Doug during a sunset session. You’ve had rooftop drinks before, but this bar is something else. Suspended on a precipice 820 feet in the air, Sky Bar is one of the highest rooftop bars in the world.

Bar Hopping on the Infamous Soi Cowboy

Soi Cowboy is a 150-metre pedestrianised strip of go-go bars, strip clubs and drinking dens that are lit up in bright neons every night of the year.

Most of the bars adopt the same layout of rows of seating surrounding a central stage on which at least 10 bikini clad dancers move to house and techno tunes. Its inclusion in a bachelor’s night out is an absolute must.

Start at either end of the strip and slowly work your way down, stopping at whichever bar you feel drawn to.

Indulge at an Exclusive Gentlemen’s Club

At first instance, gentlemen’s clubs are like very upmarket versions of go-go bars. There are beautiful girls on stage dancing between live music sets and any girl is happy to come and sit with you at your table and the customer service is professional and on-point.

Some gentlemen’s clubs in Bangkok are more popular than others for foreigners due to the language barrier, but we strongly recommend The Pimp in Ratchada or one of the many clubs found on Ekkamai Road in the Sukhumvit area of Bangkok.

Reserve a VIP Table at One of Bangkok’s Best Nightclubs

A group of lads out on tour are going to want to hit a high end club at some point and if you are going to do it then you need to do it properly! That means taking a table with a premium bottle of liquor (some clubs may require more than 1 bottle minimum spend), so you can have a full view of the DJ booth, dancefloor and everyone on it.

The club depends on your particular style and taste, but we would highly recommend The Club at Koi in Sathorn for its sophisticated vibe and impressive booths overlooking the dancefloor, Onyx for its Asian-style EDM madness or Levels for western R’n’B and party pop that gets everyone in the party mood. If you want a good table, then we suggest you book ahead.

Party on a Private Boat

Treat yourselves to a private luxury boat party on the Chao Phraya River with Thai River Cruise. Having your own private boat comes with its perks — you select the dinner menu, the music, and cruising time and pile on enticing extras like a lights disco, pumping sound system and karaoke. Private boats can hold up to 30 guests meaning even the biggest of stag parties can be accommodated.

If you need a company to organise an unforgettable boat party experience then we highly recommend getting in touch with Thai Boat Party. They are experts when it comes to creating memorable experiences on the water. You can even take in the natural beauty and scenic beaches of Pattaya, Phuket, Hua Hin or Samui with them.

Travel in Style

As this is a stag do party, you might think it is more appropriate to rent a stretch limo – but it’s not! Bangkok traffic is notoriously infamous and a vehicle that big will only increase your journey times and take away valuable stag time.

Instead, we strongly suggest hiring a luxury minivan if you want to add a bit of swagger to your journeys. There are tonnes of companies you can hire luxury vans from, just Google “luxury minivan hire in Bangkok” and take your pick. Otherwise, just use taxis or download the Grab Taxi app and let modern technology offer you the solution.

Attend a Fight at a Muay Thai Stadium

Muay Thai is an impressive martial art to watch, and a very difficult one to master. The training is hard, and reaching the top of this martial art is a long journey. Attending one of the daily fights that go on in the city will allow you to see the mastery that years of practice can produce. For of any visiting bachelor party group, going to watch Muay Thai is a hugely popular excursion.

Bangkok, as the Thai capital, has hands-down the best Muay Thai fights in the world. Rajadamnern Stadium, close to the Khao San Road area, is the most accessible venue to catch some of the action. Thursdays and Sundays are generally the best days to attend, and the action starts at 6:30pm. Tickets range from 1500 THB to 2000 THB. It’s best to buy them online.

Get Your Adrenaline Pumping at a Gun Shooting Range

If you’re looking for something different or unique to do in Bangkok after you’re done with all the strip clubs, bars and pool parties, then firing real life guns at a shooting range might be for you. If you would like to experience what it feels like to shoot an actual gun, there are plenty of shooting ranges in Bangkok to keep your stag party entertained.

Most usually have a technical instructor on site to help you throughout the process plus you will be offered several different packages based on the variety of guns that you wish to try. There are many shooting ranges in Bangkok to choose from however we highly recommend the ‘Bangkok Shooting Range’ in Phaya Thai.

There’s nothing like a dose of adrenaline-pumping fun to get yourself charged up for a night out in Bangkok and go-karting is the perfect activity for the job. It’s a thrill a minute as you whizz round the track, fighting to get the best racing line and battling to beat your friends as you head towards the chequered flag.

Most of the Go karting experiences in Bangkok include transportation to and from the venue and usually the whole track is closed to the public. Easykart in Bangkok cater to large groups including stag parties but its best to call ahead and book.
